I have truly been in a creative funk for the last year, it seems. Writing on this blog became the last thing I wanted to do and while I still wanted to create things, I didn’t want to take the time to do them and wasn’t willing to make the time in my day as I had previously. Now, I am slowly coming out of my hibernation. Admittedly, I did kind of become consumed by healthy living blogs and trying to get back into shape. Incidentally, running became my outlet of choice and I just couldn’t find the time for running, mothering, wifing (made that up – wifery sounded too Anne Bradstreet-ish, though I do love Anne Bradstreet), and creating. Now that I’ve got a few races under my belt and more of a sense of what I want to accomplish with my running, it has given me freedom to create once again. Words, stitches, etc.

So, to start off, family member having a baby = me deciding it’s time to knit! I have had this yarn (Debbie Bliss cashmerino aran) for a couple of years now. It is wonderful yarn, but I always hesitated to use it because 1) it is hand wash only and 2) whatever project I used it for had to be just right. Well, despite the fact that I’m knitting a sweater for a baby, I think it’s okay that it’s hand wash only. And the pattern, found in Simple Knits by Debbie Bliss, is so adorable that it made sense to use this yarn for it. So things are moving along. I am happy to report that after several months of no knitting, my knitting skills have not fallen off into the abyss. The goal is to finish before said baby arrives. I think I have about 3.5 months. Nothing like a goal. :0)
Oh, and I am working on the blog format. I was not incredibly comfortable in the last format and so am trying something a little more simplistic. Now I just need to figure out the header and the sidebars and I’ll be good to go.

I’m glad to find you back here, and really happy to hear that running has played a role in helping you reemerge. I never thought of myself as an athlete or a runner, but committing myself to becoming a runner turned my world around five years ago. Good for you for making healthy changes in your life. I’m anxious to see what other goodness the changes bring about.

Susan, it is always good to hear from you. Actually, you’re one of the reasons I started running. I remember always being impressed when you’d mention running and I love to hear about you and Barry going on bike rides or some activity together, and it just kind of planted a seed. Of course, it also helped to have a husband who coaches track. :0) I am in a good place right now and I am so thankful. Thanks for checking in.:0)
